Newsletter No. 82 - The Future of the World & Financial Markets as we see Them
1. Introduction
We may be right, or we may be wrong but what follows is how we see the world’s structure and its economy unfolding. A series of long cycles shows that we are approaching a pivotal point in history, a directional change when global debt reaches its inertia point coinciding with a cycle of war.
Short up and down cycles will be experienced between now and around 2027-2028 when a long (5-year) downcycle will be seen following a two-year inflation driven recovery starting later in 2025. Inflation levels will be reminiscent of the late 1970s and early 1980s forcing long bond yields (10-year US Treasuries) to rise to double digit levels.
